CASE STUDY

Project Management | Research and Scripting | Custom Illustrations | Motion Graphics | Animation | Sound Design |

Situation

Hooah was contracted to produce a series of 10 30-second spots for Naval History and Heritage Command to commemorate the Bicentennial Celebration of the War if 1812. The project's primary challenges involved writing and producing the 10 videos on a tight schedule, all the while creating a visually compelling story with a high-quality production value.

Solution

We methodically planned the series to make optimum use of resources and time. Each spot combined 2.5D-style animation of the early 19th century battleships at sea, interspersed with video footage of modern Navy vessels, weaponry and operations. By creating a basic set of vignettes against which scenes could change according to visuals and voiceover narration, we were able to reduce the need to reanimate scenes that were similar to each other.

Success

We delivered the 10 videos on time and on budget. The spots were shown on the Pentagon Channel and other U.S. Armed Forces media outlets throughout the bicentennial celebration, educating the public about the historical significance of the war our young nation fought, and reinforcing a sense of pride in members of the U.S. Navy.
