TRAINING

"You never rise to the occasion, you only sink to your lowest level of training." This is an appropriate parallel for Hooah. We're always looking for better interactive solutions to put to use for our clients. Suffice it to say, we are never"resting on our laurels.” This past month, every team member has not only been training on various software updates and researching the latest and greatest tools available to our industry, but also getting a new, fresh look at the fundamentals. Everyone is brushing up on skills that will make things run faster, smoother, and more efficient.

OPERATIONS

Our developer-guru William is currently working on an integration API (Application Programming Interface) so that our project management software can talk to our accounting software. It’s top secret so we can’t share all the details but we're excited about the outcome. It will save time operationally which frees up more time for us to play - that is - train.

The internet started out as this mysterious thing we used to"browse" through like anonymous window shoppers.

Today, we dive right in surfing at high speeds. If we wereto describe general web activity as surfing, then its time to put up yourboard, set up a beach chair and instead, watch the surf come to you. Thanks towidgets, gadgets, intuitive home pages and RSS Readers such as igoogle, googlereader, blogline, and newsgator we can now combine all the latest content from the websites we frequent and view it in sequential order. If there is no new information, then we don't have to waste any time.

Social networks, and blog communities did this years before RSS existed, but only within their own community of users. This sameconvenience has made its way across the whole world wide web.

So what does this mean for people putting the content outthere such as bloggers, newspapers, advertisers etc? Websites need to activelyconnect their content to readers. This means having frequently updated content, RSS-friendly...

Hooah is excited to announce the addition of 2001 Jefferson Davis Highway in Arlington, VA as a new Hooah office... But of course, its not so much the office we're excited about. It has a lot more to do with the fact that we've added an amazing staff of 8 very talented professionals. In particular, Ron Sparks has joined us Chief Technology Officer and will be steering the DC ship from sunny Orlando. (Ron said he was allergic to cold weather) We feel blessed for the success we've achieved and want to wish a warm welcome to our new peeps. HOOAH!!!

So Ann Arbor News is taking the plunge and going online full-time as annarbornews.com. No more black smudges on your fingers or classifieds to serve as your puppy's pee territory. I found out about this while surfing online...naturally.

I've been working in advertising and marketing for the last 10 years. When I started my career back in 1999 - I was working in recruitment advertising which historically relied upon newspapers. But Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com were having a field day scooping up market share from all printed publications. And my colleagues and I knew that newspapers were on their way out anyway because none of us under 30 even read the paper. Who needed it with daily updates from Yahoo or our local OrlandoSentinel.com? It just seemed preposterous to think that 20 years from now we would be sitting at the kitchen table reading through the paper with our morning coffee like our parents have.

The writing is on the wall and...

Here at Hooah, our crew is a hard working bunch. However, give us a day off and we will give life a full day’s work!

At the office, each member brings his or her own unique opinions and personality. To give you a taste of the different experiences that we each draw from, here are a few snap shots of how we've recently spent our free time.

Here is our president and fearless leader Jorge coming in second place at Lake Fairview's local paddleboard race last month! (Shshsh we didn’t mention that there were only 3 competitors)

Ricardo and Erin soaring through the air at 15,000 feet for their own celebration of Independence Day.
